Birthmark / fire mark

Were you born with a reddish or purplish skin discoloration that hasn't faded over time? Does the birthmark bother you aesthetically, or do you notice it becoming more prominent with age? Do you feel the discoloration affects your self-confidence or attracts unwanted attention?

What is a Watt's sign?

A firemark, also known as a port-wine stain, is a congenital vascular skin lesion caused by dilated capillaries in the superficial layers of the skin. The lesion is usually present at birth and most often appears on the face, neck, or other visible parts of the body.

A birthmark appears as a reddish, pink, or purplish patch of varying size and shape. In some individuals, the change remains similar throughout life, while in others, it may darken or become more pronounced over time.

Although the mark is usually not dangerous, it can affect self-confidence, body image, and the feeling of relaxation in social situations.

Specialized assessment and treatment options

Since vascular changes vary, a specialist assessment of the skin and vascular structures is important for choosing the appropriate approach.

A specialist examination allows for a more accurate assessment of the type, depth, and extent of the change, and a recommendation for appropriate treatment based on the location and characteristics of the mole.

Laser treatment for vascular changes allows for targeted action on enlarged capillaries and can help gradually reduce the visibility of birthmarks and improve skin evenness. For certain changes, laser removal of skin lesions may also be recommended.

Gradual improvement of skin appearance

After laser procedures, the skin can gradually appear more even, and the change less pronounced. Improvement is usually gradual and tailored to the individual and their skin characteristics.

The goal of modern treatment is not only to reduce the visibility of the mark, but also to improve skin quality, self-confidence, and the feeling of relaxation in everyday life.
