Procedure Description

Varicose veins are a consequence of weakened venous valve function, leading to blood pooling, vein dilation, and progressive disease development.

In Juventini, treatment is based on individual diagnostics and the selection of the most appropriate combination of modern methods:

  • Endovenous laser treatment
  • Phlebectomy (microsurgical vein removal)
  • Sclerotherapy for varicose veins
  • Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy
  • Treatment of perforating veins

Treatment is provided by Dr. Tamara Klarič, a specialist with extensive experience in vascular surgery. In recent years, she has performed over 1000 endovenous laser operations, as well as numerous microphlebectomy and sclerotherapy procedures.

Every treatment plan is customized based on:

  • scope of illness
  • tip of affected veins
  • deep venous system condition
  • patient symptoms and aesthetic desires

The goal of treatment is removal or closure of affected veins, improvement of symptoms, preventing disease progression and improving the aesthetic appearance of the legs.

Preparation for surgery

Before treatment, we conduct a specialist examination, which includes:

  • clinical examination in a standing position
  • ultrasound color Doppler venography as needed
  • Venous system assessment
  • determination of the optimal treatment method

Based on the review, we will prepare an individualized intervention plan.

Procedure steps

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and is minimally invasive. It usually takes place under local anesthesia.

The surgeon removes or closes diseased veins through small skin punctures or incisions. The goal of the procedure is to improve blood flow and eliminate problems such as pain, swelling, a feeling of heavy legs, and aesthetic changes. The procedure concludes with compression therapy application. After the procedure, the patient usually goes home the same day.

Recommendations after surgery

After treatment, we recommend:

  • regular walking
  • wearing compression stockings
  • avoiding prolonged standing or sitting
  • avoiding strenuous physical activity in the first few weeks
  • regular check-ups

Recovery

Recovery is mostly quick and uneventful. After the surgery, you may experience:

  • bruises
  • mild swelling
  • sensitivity at the site of the procedure
  • temporary hardening of vein after sclerotherapy

Most changes fade within a few days after the procedure.
