What is the recovery process like after a facelift?

Recovery from a facelift is less demanding for most patients than they expect, and the key to a beautiful result is primarily patience and proper postoperative care.

One of the most common concerns before a facelift is recovery. Most patients want to know how long swelling and bruising last, when they can return to normal activities, and how quickly results will be visible.

It's important to understand that a facelift is not just a surgery, but a process of gradual healing and rejuvenation. The first few days after the procedure are primarily dedicated to rest and reducing swelling.

What is normal after surgery?

After the facelift, the usual ones are:

  • swelling,
  • underwater operations,
  • skin tightness,
  • mild fatigue,
  • sensitivity of the operated area.

Most patients describe the pain as moderate and manageable with medication. In the first few days, regular cooling, rest, and sleeping with the head slightly elevated are helpful.

When are the results visible?

The larger swelling usually gradually subsides within the first 2-3 weeks. Most patients return to light daily activities after about 10-14 days, and the face appears significantly more rested and refreshed after a few weeks.

The final result is not immediately visible. The tissues gradually soften, and the face takes on a more natural appearance over the following months.

For a better recovery, it is important:

  • enough rest,
  • good hydration,
  • avoiding smoking,
  • following the surgeon's instructions,
  • Postoperative return to activities.

Recovery is always individual, but most patients find it less demanding than they expected.
