Why is a compression strap important?

After surgery, patients wear a compression band that:

• supports the new position of the hinges,
• reduces swelling,
• protects ears while sleeping,
• reduces the possibility of injuries,
• Helps with healing.

The compression band is usually worn continuously for the first two weeks, then for a few more weeks at night and during physical activities. 

Most patients return to light daily activities after about one week, and the final result becomes increasingly natural over the following months.
