Swelling, bruising around the eyes, and a feeling of tightness are a completely normal part of healing after surgery.
What is normal after surgery?
After rhinoplasty, you may often experience:
- swelling of the nose and around the eyes,
- underwater operations,
- stuffy nose,
- sensitivity of the operated area,
- Intermittent difficulty breathing through the nose,
- Tightening sensation of the skin.
Most swelling gradually subsides in the first few weeks after surgery, but the nose fully takes shape over several months.
How is the recovery going?
Typical recovery process:
- The nasal splint remains in place for approximately 7-10 days.,
- The stitches are removed after one week.,
- Most patients return to light activities after 7-14 days,
- more strenuous physical activity is not recommended for several weeks.,
- The final result is usually seen after 6–12 months.
For a faster recovery, we recommend:
- cooling the operated area,
- reclining position,
- avoiding physical exertion,
- protection of the nose from injury,
- strict adherence to the surgeon's instructions.
Many patients are surprised by how much a subtle change to the nose can improve the overall facial expression.
