Botox is Cosmetic procedure, in which small amounts of botulinum toxin type A are injected into selected facial muscles. It works by temporarily interrupting the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles, causing temporary paralysis of the facial muscles. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and almost painless, as we use very fine needles. Results begin to appear within a few days, with the full effect visible after approximately 7–14 days. Facial muscles gradually regain strength after six to seven months, resulting in the reappearance of wrinkles. After two years of repeated toxin injections, the duration of the effect is extended. Practitioners with good knowledge can also achieve a lift of the brow arches without the use of surgical techniques and scarring (chemical »browlift«), further contributing to a youthful facial appearance. For 6 hours after the procedure, avoid lifting heavy objects and strenuous physical activities. During this time, also avoid touching the areas where the botulinum toxin was injected. This will ensure the medication stays in the area where it was injected and does not spread elsewhere. We also advise against laser treatments or microdermabrasion for 10 days after the procedure. If you are in the sun, use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Also, avoid using tanning beds during this time.
