Dear parents and guardians. The compulsory insurance regulations stipulate conditions and limitations for the use of sick leave (childcare) and escort services, which all healthcare providers must adhere to. If you require documentation to exercise these rights, you must visit our clinic within three days at the latest, bringing your child's and your health cards. In cases of escorting a child, you must also bring a medical report or certificate indicating that you accompanied the child to the healthcare provider. Whenever a child's condition is more serious and the expected care exceeds three days, a check-up with our pediatrician is also required. More information about these rights is detailed below.
The right to compensation for childcare is granted to one of the parents, or a foster parent and guardian, when they are actually caring for and looking after the child, or to a spouse or cohabiting partner, when they are actually caring for and looking after the child of their spouse or cohabiting partner. The entitled person can exercise this right until the child reaches 18 years of age or as long as parental custody lasts. If the other spouse is unemployed, retired, or can provide care without a conflict with their work, they are not entitled to such a right. The duration of the right to compensation is limited to 7 calendar days (older children over 7 years old) or 20 calendar days (younger children under 7 years old or older children with moderate, severe, or profound intellectual and physical disabilities). When the child's health condition requires it, the competent designated physician may extend the duration of the compensation to a maximum of 14 working days (older child) or up to 30 working days (younger children under 7 years old or older children with moderate, severe, or profound intellectual and physical disabilities). In exceptional cases, the duration of the compensation may be extended upon the proposal of the professional collegium of the Pediatric Clinic.
To avoid potential issues, we want to emphasize that it is currently not possible to issue childcare for the time the child is hospitalized. However, we can issue accompaniment for the day the child is admitted and the day the child is discharged from the hospital.
A child up to the age of 15, and a child or adolescent with severe or profound intellectual and physical disabilities up to the age of 18, has the right to an escort on any trip to a healthcare provider for the purpose of receiving any healthcare service, regardless of whether the trip is to a provider outside their place of residence or within their place of residence, and regardless of their health condition or other reasons for which an escort may otherwise be approved for an insured person. An older child has the right to an escort under the same conditions as other insured persons, meaning only if they are unable to travel alone due to their health condition or other reasons, and must travel outside their place of residence because there is no suitable provider in that place.
